Jim the Bubble Man came to HDC today with his silly sudsy show!

The children were mesmerized by the bubbles! They laughed and screamed for joy! They loved Francis the foam puppet! It was a great show! Thanks Jim!

McDonny's Farm

Old McDonny had a farm...

 

We welcomed the animals from McDonny's farm to Haverhill Daycare! There was a goat, bunnies, chickens and ducks!

 



 

The children had so much fun interacting and learning about the animals.

 

 Thank you to everyone who helped with our popcorn fundraiser, because of you we are able to afford to bring in these great programs! Looking forward to our next in house field trip at the end of the month!



Mother's Day 2019

Happy Mother's Day!

 

Our teachers have been very busy making sure all of the children have a little homemade surprise to give to their Mother's for their special day on Sunday!

 

Here are a few of the cute things each class and child has made to show their Mom's just how much they love and appreciate them!

 

Room 1 made beautiful blowing kisses canvases with mixed media paintings behind them.

 

 

Room 2 made beautiful finger print flowers and cards for their Mom's, "Thank you for helping me bloom."

 

 

Room 3 made ice cream cones with words to describe their Mom's.

 

 

Room 4 made various child made paintings with poems and each child planted a flower for their Mom.

 

 

 

Room 5 made a fingerprint painted canvas with an attached poem.

 

 

My dirty little fingerprints I’ve left on every wall,

And on the drawers and table tops, I’ve really marked them all.

But here are some that won’t rub off, I made them just for you,

Because I am thankful for a Mom who loves me like you do.

Teacher Appreciation Week 2019

  Teacher Appreciation Week!

 

 

This week we wanted to go above and beyond for our teachers here at HDC! With the help of our amazing parents we were able to pull it off!

 

Monday - We "donut" know what we would do without our teachers! Muffins, donuts, scones, fruit, orange juice, coffee and more!

 

Tuesday - Taco-bout a great group of teachers! Thank you so much to Xavier's family who own Fuego Latin Restaurant in Salem, Nh!!! It was delicious!!!



 

Wednesday - Thanks for making our kids such "smart cookies"!  

 

Thursday -  Thanks for "quenching" the thirst for knowledge. Ice cream sundae's, floats and caffeinated drinks!  

 

We also surprised the teachers with a 20 minute chair massage compliments of the amazing Carmen!

She even brought them each some Himalayan salt to make a relaxing spa bath after a long day of teaching! Thank you so much Carmen!! Need a great massage?

Friday - Feelings & flowers Friday! The children are bringing in homemade cards for their teachers and each family signed up to bring flowers to one of the teachers.   

 

We made an appreciation station on the parent board! Here we are asking our parents and their children to write something about what they appreciate about a teacher or teachers.  

 

We also wanted to say thank you to our parents who are teachers in various schools and settings!  

 

Thank you to all of the teachers far and wide!!! The job you do is so important and we want you all to know that we appreciate you and your efforts.

Easter Egg Hunt

We had an Easter Egg hunt

for the teachers today!!!

 

Just a little something to keep staff morale nice and high!

 

 

They got to hunt around the office for their three eggs! Two bold colored eggs and one pastel.

 

 The two bold had candy inside and the pastel had a coupon for a small, medium or top prize. The small prizes included bath bombs, pez dispensers and hand lotions, the two medium prizes were a wine bottle cover and a Marvel key chain and finally the two top prizes were an enchanted forest coloring book and a jewelry stand. 

 

 

Aimee found one of the top prize eggs!

 

We hope the staff had lots of fun and we wish everyone a very happy Easter weekend!!!



Weather

As the season changes into Spring and the days are getting warmer many of the classrooms are talking about weather with the children. Here are a few of their weather related activities...

 

 

The children brain stormed words that relate to weather and were encouraged to sing the rain song together at circle.

 

The children practiced name recognition with their peers by matching the name clouds.

 

 

Rain drop pictures made by dripping water color paint onto the paper using an eye dropper for a fine motor workout.

 

 

The children had a blast making some weather stew in the sensory table. They were encouraged to use a variety of kitchen utensils and bowls and pick a card. They were then invited to count out the objects on the card and make their own weather stew! For an extension activity, the children wrote their own recipes and picked their own numbers of the items.

 

 

The children looked at various pictures of clouds and picked one to make using cotton balls and paint. This little cutie made altocumulus clouds.

 

 

The children had a fun sensory experience finger painting with clouds aka shaving cream!

 

 

The children discussed and graphed their favorite type of weather and season.

 

 

The children conducted a science experiment of a walking rainbow. They put the cups of colored water in a circle and added plain white paper towels to connect the colors. They then watched and observed to see the rainbow, "walk" across the paper towels and connect the colors. So cool!

 

Our three year olds made lovely stormy night collages and weather wind socks!

 

 

The children enjoyed all the weather related activities and lessons and we hope you enjoyed reading about them! 

St. Jude Fundraiser

Haverhill Daycare is raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and participating in their trike-a-thon. The St. Jude Trike-A-Thon is a fun, service learning program for daycares and preschools that teaches trike and riding toy safety while helping the children of St. Jude. With your support, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

 

The children had a great time riding and learning about bike / trike safety at the same time.

 

 

We played Stop and Go (red light, green light) with the big sign!

 

 

 

We wanted to thank all of our families for your help and support in fundraising for this very special hospital. We are happy we are able to give back!

 

St. Jude Hospital donated tricycle/bicycle safety coloring books, licenses and stickers for each child.

 

 

Boston Children's Hospital (Safety prevention department) has also generously donated helmets for children to use for our school tricycles.  

 

We hosted a bake sale all week which was a great success! The school age children had a blast selling the items and working on their math and communication skills in the process.

 

Our bake sale raised $239

 

 

Our total amount fundraised was $2213.00
