Art Show 2021
Art Show 2021!
Our students and staff have been working diligently on their masterpieces for the art show!
Each class put in three different art forms. One based on a famous artist, one process based activity and one of their own choosing.
Mimi and Mariah's class picked Edvard Munch for their artist. The children made their own interpretations of his work, The Scream using water colors.
I was able to do an art activity with the students too. It kept us nice and busy on the playground in the afternoon and offered a nice place to relax and cool off. I wanted to focus on a famous female artist as I noticed everyone else had picked a male artist. So we made poppies in the style of artist, Georgia O'Keeffe.
They also made a collaborative / recycled art project as a group. They worked together and created their own campground. It hosts a long list of amenities including a game room, parking garage, outdoor cafeteria, etc...

Olympics
It's Olympic week here at HDC!
We have had so much fun learning about what it takes to be an Olympian and an all around good sport. We have talked about different countries and what their flags look like. How the rings represent the union of the five continents and the meeting of athletes from around the world. How the games originated in ancient Greece. How important exercise and eating healthy is for our bodies. We have also learned some great vocabulary words such as podium, athlete, torch and sportsmanship. So many different learning objectives have all come out of our Olympic week.
To us though, the most important thing is that the children were active and engaged in their learning and we were all able to come together as a school!
