Haverhill Daycare is celebrating Read Across America and Dr. Seuss' Birthday!
We are hosting a spirit week for all of our students!
We are asking all students to wear their favorite hat to school.
Check out our Cat in the Hat inspired learning activities!
Cat in the Hat colors cup stacking! The children are using their engineering skills to build with red cups and white slips of paper. They are also working on math concepts by building patterns and counting how many they can stack until their tower falls.
Left:The children are working their fine motor muscles by using tongs to make cat hat patterns with pom poms. Right: Cat in the Hat name hats! The children not only made patterns but wrote each letter of their name on a different color for some letter recognition practice.
Tuesday - Fox in Socks Day!
We are asking all students to wear
their fun / most colorful socks.
We made these socks to put on fox after reading, Fox In Socks. These socks aren't plain and blue, sir. They are new and fun to view, sir!
We are asking all students to wear a wacky (backwards/mismatched/inside out) outfit and/or a wacky hairdo.
Thursday - Green Eggs and Ham Day!
We are asking all students to please dress in the color green and we will serve green eggs and ham for lunch.
Cheri did a great job preparing the green eggs!
The students graphed the results of their taste test!
Green pom pom of all sizes sorting with tweezers.
Friday - Oh, The Places You'll Go Day!
We are asking all students to wear a vacation or a location shirt. We will also have a photo booth set up in room 3 (Jasmine's room) to take a Seuss inspired photo!
The children got to enjoy a special treat for the last day of spirit week!
Other Dr.Seuss books that the
teachers read this week...
The children created their own Wocket and had to write a sentence on where they would bring it on an adventure.
The children did a great job putting together a variety of different Dr. Seuss floor puzzles.
Seussical sculptures!
Handprint Horton's, made by the three year olds!
The Pre-K are rolling the dice to write their own Seuss inspired stories.
We hope everyone has had lots of fun and we are looking forward to continually instilling a love for literacy in all of our students!
