Dental Health 2021

 The Dental Hygienist, Beth Ann

from Plaistow Pediatric Dentistry

came to Haverhill Daycare today!!!

The children had lots of fun learning about how to take good care of their teeth!

They learned that it is best to brush twice a day for two minutes each time.

Each child had a turn to brush the dragons teeth using small circles.

They also played a game where they matched healthy foods to a happy tooth and not so healthy foods to the sad tooth. They talked about how those foods are alright sometimes but they should mostly stick to the healthy foods.

All the children got to take a turn putting food on the board and deciding which tooth it went to.

The children got to check out all the tools the hygienist or dentist will use during a visit.

The children were able to take a look at a real x-ray of someones mouth.

They were also able to practice brushing and flossing on a large scale. The children were the teeth! They thought it was such a hoot! : )

They had lots of fun today and learned an important lesson about dental health.

Thank you Barbara Ann!

Art Show 2021

 Art Show 2021!

Our students and staff have been working diligently on their masterpieces for the art show!

Each class put in three different art forms. One based on a famous artist, one process based activity and one of their own choosing.

Mimi and Mariah's class picked Edvard Munch for their artist. The children made their own interpretations of his work, The Scream using water colors.

Joan and Maya's class picked Ed Emberly and Eric Carle for their artists. Two of our favorite children's authors!

They made their own seahorses based on the book, Mister Seahorse by Eric Carle.

Destiny and Marcie's classes chose Vincent Van Gogh and his Starry Night painting.

Sonia and the School Age crew chose Pablo Picasso as their artist to draw inspiration from.

They also let each child choose an artist of their own to interpret or to make some open ended art...or both!

I was able to do an art activity with the students too. It kept us nice and busy on the playground in the afternoon and offered a nice place to relax and cool off. I wanted to focus on a famous female artist as I noticed everyone else had picked a male artist. So we made poppies in the style of artist, Georgia O'Keeffe.

Our school age students made an ocean mural and learned some interesting facts about water.

They painted rocks too! Some of the children chose to  decoupage their rock and added fabric and beads to theirs.

They also made a collaborative / recycled art project as a group. They worked together and created their own campground. It hosts a long list of amenities including a game room, parking garage, outdoor cafeteria, etc...

Mimi and Mariah's class also made these creative paintings with the children's picture and with words that the children used to describe themselves.

They also made this Summer fun mural. All the painting is done with their hands or fingerprints. They worked together and took pictures outside doing a variety of physical activities to add to the mural.

Marcie and Destiny's class made these marvelous water color Mickey silhouettes!

Our youngest learners also made these painted masterpieces! They painted a paper with various colors and then dipped the canvas into it to create a work of art! So creative!

Joan and Maya's class made these glittery finger painted masterpieces!

We set up an area to read some art related books.

We also had some fun photo props!

We also had the easel ready if anyone wanted to draw.

We hope everyone had a great time!!!
