Myssie (Executive Director)

Hello All!  I have been working in the Early Childhood field for over thirty-two years. (Yikes!)  I started out my education on the accounting path and then one elective course in Early Childhood changed everything. I have been employed with Haverhill Daycare since 1998. I was a preschool teacher for the first eleven years, became Program Director in 2009 and was promoted to Executive Director in April of 2018. I hold an associates degree in Early Childhood Education from Northern Essex Community College, a bachelor's degree in Child, Family & Community Studies and Leadership from Merrimack college and am currently completing my master's degree in Early Education at Salem State (Graduation date set for December, 2024!). At preschool, I love messy activities, being silly and reading to the children.  In my personal life, I enjoy traveling, reading, watching documentaries and spending time with my two amazing girls, Chloe and Maya and my pup, Honey.
I LOVE my job and my employees. I couldn't ask for a better team of ladies!

Melanie (Program Director)

Hi everyone! I started as a full time employee at Haverhill Daycare in 2008 and became part of the administration in 2018. It may be hard to believe but I went to the daycare myself as a child. I hold two bachelor degrees from Salem State College, one in early childhood education and the other in sociology. I enjoy spending time with friends, family, my husband Matt and our son Roman. I also enjoy reading, cooking, traveling and keeping active. I have a real love for teaching and learning. I believe that a hands on approach where children are active in their learning is the way to go!

Sonia (Lead Pre-K Teacher)

Hi! I started at Haverhill Daycare in 2004. I am lead teacher certified and have a degree in Early Childhood Education from Fisher College. I enjoy spending time with my husband, my son Brady, my two stepsons Brandon and Kyle,  my grandchildren Bentley & Vivienne, my cat Baxter and the rest of my siblings. I like to stay active and try new things. It is my passion to teach children, make them feel valued and make learning fun. Here's to a great school year!

Joan (Lead Preschool Teacher)

Hi! I have been working at HDC since 1975. I went to Northern Essex and have an Associates degree in early childhood education. I enjoy working with youth of all ages. I am a long time volunteer with the 4-H program and Topsfield Fair. In my spare time I enjoy reading, crocheting, crafts and spending time with my grandson, Roman.

Marcie (Lead Preschool Teacher)

Hi everyone! I have been teaching for many years and joined Haverhill Daycare in 2006. I am lead teacher certified and am going back to school to work on finishing up my associates degree. Life is busy as a mother of three biological children (Ashley, Corey and Destiny) one adopted daughter (Jenia), and beautiful granddaughters (Amayaliz & Julia). All of my children have attended HDC and my daughter Destiny never left and is now teaching here with me full time! I am also a foster Mom and love to keep in contact with our past foster children. I love to spend time and make memories with my family and friends. I enjoy the outdoors, camping and relaxing by the lake and traveling even if its only up the road to NH. Time with family is truly precious. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year.

Destiny (Preschool Teacher)

Hello! My name is Destiny. I graduated from Whittier Vo Tech in 2019. I am now attending Northern Essex to continue studying Early Childhood Education. As a child, I attended Haverhill Daycare myself and still find so much joy being here. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and going on adventures.

Hey everyone! I’m Maya and I have been at HDC since I was 2 years 9 months…crazy right?! I was a student here myself and now I am back as a teacher. I graduated from Whittier Vo Tech in 2021 as a culinary student. I completed my child, growth and development class at NECC and am Teacher certified with DEEC. Abby (Teacher)

Hello! My name is Abigail (Abby). I graduated from Whittier Vo Tech in 2022. I plan to further my career in Early Childhood Education. As a child, I always dreamed of being a preschool teacher. In late 2021 when I came to HDC I knew my dream had come true. I am very lucky to have found HDC during my student teaching. Every child gets the best care possible and most importantly the teachers know every day how much the work they do matters and what a difference they make. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my rabbits, going on adventures and running a farm in Maine with my Dad on the weekends.

Chloe (School age group leader/substitute)

Hey everyone! I'm Chloe! I am currently a student at UMASS Lowell. I graduated  from Northern Essex with my associates degree in forensic chemistry. I love reading, ice cream, coffee, traveling and watching netflix. I also enjoy working with the school age crew, they are fun, creative and funny. Most importantly - I love my HDC family!

We are very proud to have a high quality staff with lots of longevity.

  1. HDC Board member;
I have been involved with HDC since
1974 as the Early Childhood teacher at Whittier Voc Tech HS.
Students were able to take a rotation through 1 of 9 Day Care
Centers that had contracts with Whittier. Many chose to do a rotation through HDC.
My former students and I were pleased to be part of the staff.
    HDC teachers were always willing
to help the students complete their studies. The relationship continues to this day in 2022. Some of those students continue today as HDC
    teachers.
This fact makes me proud to be a part of their vocational choice as teachers at Haverhill Day Care.
