Pete the Cat

HDC went on a sensory rich story walk with Pete the Cat today!

This year's story walk book was...

Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes

Here we go!
"I love my white shoes..."

Oh no! Pete stepped in a large pile of...

Strawberries!

What color did it turn his shoes?

Did Pete cry? Goodness, no! He kept walking along and singing his song.

"I love my red shoes, I love my red shoes, I love my red shoes."

Oh no! Pete stepped in a large pile of...

Blueberries!

What color did it turn his shoes?

Did Pete cry? Goodness, no! He kept walking along and singing his song.

"I love my blue shoes, I love my blue shoes, I love my blue shoes."

Oh no! Pete stepped in a large pile of...

Mud!

What color did it turn his shoes?

Did Pete cry? Goodness, no! He kept walking along and singing his song.

"I love my brown shoes, I love my brown shoes, I love my brown shoes."

Oh no! Pete stepped in a bucket of water...

and all the brown,
and all the blue,
and all the red,
were washed away.

What color were his shoes again?

The moral of Pete's story is:
No matter what you step in,
keep walking along and
singing your song...

because it's all good!

Art Show 2022

~ HDC Art Show 2022 ~

The students and teachers really went above and beyond this year for our biggest art show yet!

Monet inspired water lilies on a pond.

Our school age students made some very exciting projects out of recycled materials and cardboard.

Reinterpreting an illustration from their favorite classroom books.

Above the children made a string art sun on the fence and below the children used a string to drag across their canvas to create some very interesting textures with the paint.

Jackson Pollock inspired splatter art!

Our colorful footprints from our,
Pete The Cat inspired sensory book walk!

Maya and a few other teachers did a great job with the face paint! They had lots of happy customers!

We had such a great turn out!

After the families finished their picnic lunches, they were able to visit the ice cream truck and view the art.

Such a great way to end the school year!

We wish all of our students the best of luck as they go off to kindergarten! : )
