Olympics

It's Olympic week here at HDC!

We have had so much fun learning about what it takes to be an Olympian and an all around good sport. We have talked about different countries and what their flags look like. How the rings represent the union of the five continents and the meeting of athletes from around the world. How the games originated in ancient Greece. How important exercise and eating healthy is for our bodies. We have also learned some great vocabulary words such as podium, athlete, torch and sportsmanship. So many different learning objectives have all come out of our Olympic week.

To us though, the most important thing is that the children were active and engaged in their learning and we were all able to come together as a school!

Here are some of our school age students doing an Olympic word search.

Here the children are discussing some of the countries and finding them on the globe.

The children were asked what color the Olympic rings were? They all made their guess and then were able to make their own Olympic rings.

Our youngest learner's made art by stamping the Olympic rings with a paper towel tube!

Our school age crew had an Olympic Party complete with some fun snacks!

We hope everyone is enjoying the Olympic games! Go team USA!
